Virtual Visits & Telemedicine in Fort Collins

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is a type of visit with your health care provider that is performed through an electronic medium such as Video, Phone, Email or Text. It can be utilized for a variety of basic ailments and complaints that may not necessarily require an in person office visit. This allows patients a very convenient method to access their provider from home, at work or even while traveling and can greatly improve care when patients are unable or do not need to be seen in person

Are there any limitations or restrictions?

Yes there are limitations to telemedicine. The difficulty in performing proper physical exams and the inability to take vital signs virtually can make some medical problems difficult to assess / track and therefore are inappropriate for telemedicine. For these reasons, virtual visits are considered a supplement to improve our patients convenience & access to care however, they are not a replacement for in person visits all together. Patients who have not been seen in person for extended periods of time or who have severe / unstable medical problems may be required to be seen in person

What kind of medical issues can be seen virtually?

Many visit types are easy to be seen virtually. Common complaints such as allergies, rashes, mental health issues, simple coughs & colds as well as variety of other basic level problems may be able to be handled virtually without needing to be seen in person. Severe complaints however, such as radical weight loss, serious infections, abdominal pain, heart palpitations, chest pains, etc.. conditions that may require physical exams or procedures are not appropriate for virtual medicine and necessitate in person visits to maintain the health and safety of the patient.

How much does it cost?

Virtual visits are included in Starlight Health’s membership package
